Stone cutting axe

This axe would have been used for cutting and perhaps to show status by the earliest humans in the Northamptonshire area. Axes like this represent human activity over a long time period covering 40,000 – 9000 BCE. This huge period saw many changes in the environment, encompassing several glacial and interglacial episodes which affected human settlement in the region.
