The death of General Wolfe

Framed engraving of the death of General Wolfe at the Battle of Quebec in 1759. The inscription below print reads 'Painted by B. West, Historical Painter to His Majesty.'

The inscription continues 'Engraved by Wm Woollett, Engraver to His Majesty. To the King's Most Excellent Majesty, this plate The Death of General Wolfe, is with His Gracious Permission humbly dedicated by his Most Dutiful Subject and Servant, Wm Woollett'.

Both the 48th Regiment and 58th Regiment were present at the Battle of Quebec and tradition has it that the surgeon attending General Wolfe at his death was from the 48th Regiment. The Northamptonshire Regiment was the only one in the British Army which had both of its subsequent regular battalions present at the Battle of Quebec.
