Shakespeare’s Garden

An exhibition in the Inspiration Gallery at Abington Park Museum

21 May – 19 June 2022

Shakespeare's Garden is an exhibition of original watercolour paintings depicting plants mentioned in Shakespeare's plays; painted by members of the Northamptonshire Botanical Artists' Society (NBAS), a thriving group of local artists drawn together by their love of plants and painting. Shakespeare mentions over one hundred and fifty different types of flowers, herbs and other plants in his plays. The Northampton Botanical Arts Society inspired by Abington Park Museum’s link to Shakespeare through his granddaughter have faithfully depicted such plants as irises, carnations and blackberries amongst many others.
