Transport Day Event Volunteer
Main purpose of role:
To help staff with activities for Transport Day. This will be a free event that will enable people to share their transport collections and vehicles with the public.
Main duties:
- To assist with setting up the event
- To help direct exhibitors to their allocated spaces
- To direct members of the public
- To help with children’s/family activities
- To welcome people to the event and direct them to activites
- To help evaluate the day and find out what our audiences thought
- To assist with car parking
- To help clear up
Event volunteers are always supported by museum staff and are not responsible for visitor behaviour or belongings.
Location:
Abington Park & Abington Park Museum
Approximate time commitment and duration:
Saturday 25 June 2022
The event will run from 11am-4pm
Volunteers will need to be on site: 9am-5pm (including set up and clear down)
Half-a-day shifts are available: 9am-1pm (Set up and morning running) or 1-5.30pm (Afternoon running and clear down)
Useful skills required:
- Interest in local history
- Friendly, approachable
- Good comminicator
- Confident when meeting people
- Knowledge or interest in history of transport
Training provided:
You will be required to attend an induction session.
All training and equipment will be provided.
Briefing of the activities will take place at the beginning of the day and some information will be sent out in advance.
