Library Catalogue Volunteer

Main purpose of role:

To catalogue our library of collection and museum related books and journals onto an excel spreadsheet.

Main duties:

  • Check books in the collections library are grouped into the right place
  • Give books a new numbers and record it on the book
  • Check against existing catalogues
  • Catalogue onto excel spreadsheet
  • Reseach into the history and ownership of the book - within the book itself


Northampton Museum and Art Gallery

Approximate time commitment and duration:

Half to one day per week

Useful skills required:

  • Computer literate and confident with spreadsheets.
  • Attention to detail
  • Good written and recording skills
  • Interest in books

Training provided:

  • All training provided

Skills volunteers can develop in the role:

  • Skills and understanding of documentation and recording processes in a museum environment

Other information:

  • All equipment will be provided
  • Free tea/coffee and biscuits
  • Free parking
