Pair of Pugilists Tom Cribb and Tom Molineux, Staffordshire

These pugilists, bare-knuckle boxers, figurines were created to commemorate the 1810 and 1811 fights between Gloucestershire heavyweight boxing champion Tom Cribb and the challenger, American Tom Molineaux.

Cribb won both fights though the 1810 fight was controversial with accusation of cheating. These figurines would have been popular purchases for English society at the time as both bare knuckle boxing and Tom Cribb were highly regarded in the 1800s.
