We follow Arts Council England Accreditation standards in caring for and recording our collections.

Caring for our collections policy

Caring for our collections appropriately is a fundamental duty and is central to the museums core purpose. It is essential to enable audience engagement with our collections and to achieve the ambition of an international centre of excellence for shoe heritage as detailed in our vision.

Conserving our collection

We follow passive conservation measures to care for our collection, essentially ensuring that the spaces in which they are displayed or stored do not cause them to deteriate. Where necessary we make minimal active interventions to care for our collections and prepare objects for display.
