Donating to the fine art collection

The Fine Art Collection is open for donations to improve its depth. This includes material from national and international artists alongside local artists and artworks depicting Northampton, Northamptonshire and local people. Italian art will continue to be a priority alongside artists from 1890 to the present.

We would welcome donations of your cherished artworks that support these themes.

Active collecting supports the following themes which is based on the Collections Development Policy:

  • Renaissance and Baroque Italian works
  • Portraits from contemporary artists representing local people
  • Portraits representing key figures from Northampton
  • Portraits 1600-1900
  • Sculptural pieces representing genre art and still-life
  • Genre works representing Northampton life
  • Pre-1900 landscape works and contemporary Northampton landscapes
  • Artist prints 1990-present
  • Fine art photography
  • Practising local artists and up-coming young artists
  • British and international artists 1950 to present
  • Early modern art and art post 1970
  • Local artists not already represented
  • Dutch and Northern European painting 1500-1800
  • Sculpture including includes larger works, non-figurative/portrait, abstract, still-life, genre pieces and sculpture in non-traditional mediums
  • Art by female artists that is representative of female, gender and LGBTQTIA histories
