| Lycaon changed into a wolf by Bartolomeo Pinelli | |
|
Bartolomeo Pinelli was an Italian painter, illustrator and engraver born in Rome. This ink and wash sketch was part of a purchase of 28 drawings in 1865. The purchase highlights the ambition of the museum founders to collect art. The drawings within the collection indicate that Pinelli covered a variety of themes in his work, and referenced a number of subjects deriving from classical literature, history and mythology. |
