Mess table set with the various pieces of regimental silverware including a soup tureen, coffee pot, cigars, lighters, candle sticks and menu cards. Tableware includes Coalport plates and crockery which was part of a set presented by Lieutenant Colonel F. J. Parker. The table runner bears the names of past campaigns including Quebec in 1759 and the Sphinx which commemorates service in Egypt in 1801. There was a different mess for officers, non-commissioned officers and other ranks. They all had certain customs, traditions and furnishings and, although the buildings varied, they all offered a familiar haven to members of the regiment both at home and when on service abroad.
