Museum Collections Packing Volunteer
Main purpose of role:
Northampton Museum and Art Gallery is looking for volunteers to join a team to help improve the storage and care of museum objects and their use in exhibitions, events and research. The collections include a range of objects from 6000BP to the present day. This includes archaeology, coins and numismatics, shoes, clothing and textile, social history, decorative and fine art objects.
This is an opportunity to join a team of volunteers to help with improving the storage and packing of these important objects on a museum database. No experience is necessary, and full training will be given.
Main duties:
- Packing objects into card boxes using conservation materials.
- Label objects and boxes
Location:
The Guildhall, Northampton
Approximate time commitment and duration:
Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday or Friday between 10.00am - 1pm and 1pm - 4pm (note that volunteers ae welcome to undertake a full day if preferred)
We would ask you to commit a ½ day regularly over a minimum of 3 months or undertake a regular week (days noted above) for a minimum of a 3-week period.
