Collections Administration Volunteer
Main purpose of role:
The Museum collections will be moving to a new store. The Museum also continues to receive donations to the collection and requests for loans and has a backlog of collections documentation. The collections include a range of objects from 500AD to the present day.
This is an opportunity to support the Museum service with administrative tasks including email/letter writing, scanning, taking minutes and notes for monthly meetings, filling in spreadsheets of data filing and join a team of volunteers to help with condition checking, packing and boxing these important objects. No experience is necessary and full training will be given.
- Creating and sending letters to donors
- Creating and managing spreadsheets of data
- Writing minutes for monthly meetings and preparing agendas.
- Recording box numbers on spreadsheets
- Scanning
Location:
The Guildhall & Northampton Museum and Art Gallery
Approximate time commitment and duration:
Half to one day per week, regularly for a minimum of 6 months
Days: either Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday
Between 10am - 1pm or 1pm - 4pm.
Useful skills required:
- Computer skills using Office
- Attention to detail and procedures
- Ability to work on own initiative or as a team
- Interest in Museum collections
Training provided:
All training will be provided. You will be required to attend an induction session.
Training on Museum administrative systems.
Skills volunteers can devleop in the role:
- Administrative and Office based skills in a working environment
