Jean Edwards
I am a printmaker, collage artist and urbansketcher working from my kitchen and spare bedroom in Abington, Northampton.
As a printmaker I make collagraph prints using found and recycled materials. These are inspired by the local landscape and buildings as well as responding to the natural world and weather. I enjoy trying out printmaking processes including using a Gelli Plate to create collage materials. I have recently exhibited at the Derby Print Open; Open24 in Leciester; Art in the Park in Abington Park Museum; Artworks in Kettering and the Northampton Town and County exhibition 2024.
I moved into collage because I began to make and collect materials to use in a process called chine collé in printmaking. This led me into making collages and joining in collage challenges and projects. Many of my collages are on UK train tickets.
I love sketching outdoors and I organise the Northampton chapter of Urbansketchers. We meet in Northampton and around the county to sketch outdoors together. This is a great way of exploring and appreciating our local area. My sketches often inspire my printmaking.
