Jennie Care
Jennie Care is Northampton -based abstract artist working in mixed media, combining collage, acrylic and direct mark making. Her practice is process-driven, with each piece developing through layering, covering, scraping back and rebuilding.
She uses collage to create structure and depth, embedding fragments of paper into the surface before working over them with acrylic paint. Layers are built gradually — some transparent, some opaque — allowing earlier decisions to remain partially visible. Mark making plays a central role in the work, introducing movement, contrast and a sense of immediacy through drawn lines, scratches and gestural forms.
The finished pieces are shaped by accumulation. Each layer contributes to the overall composition, creating tension between control and instinct. Her abstract work focuses on surface, balance and the relationship between colour, texture, and line.
