Kathryn Brown

Kathryn Brown has a background in Fashion and Design, having graduated from the University for the Creative Arts in the 1990s. Now that her three daughters are beginning to leave the nest, she has been able to dedicate more time to reconnecting with her artistic practice. As her work continues to evolve, Kathryn enjoys experimenting with new techniques and discovering the methods and effects that resonate most with her.

Working primarily in watercolours, pencils, and inks, Kathryn’s art often reflects an impressionistic approach. At times she focuses on exploring the mood and atmosphere of the natural world, creating pieces that evoke the quiet beauty and emotion found in nature. On other occasions, she draws inspiration from the richness and character of British wildlife.

Kathryn is particularly drawn to painting hares, captivated by their wild, majestic presence. Red squirrels, however, remain her personal favourite subject.

She has lived in the picturesque village of Geddington for over 30 years. Her studio is a peaceful attic space filled with natural light—an inspiring setting for her work, though her three cats are never far away and often keep her company while she paints.
