Marika du Plessis

Marika du Plessis is a ceramic artist who creates whimsical, hand-built creatures full of character, charm and storytelling. Best known for her unique Quirky Birds, she crafts each piece individually, using textured clay, rich oxides and luminous glazes to explore themes of freedom, resilience and hope. Vintage lace and fabrics are often impressed into the clay, preserving fragments of history within every sculpture. Based in Northampton, Marika also teaches hand-building ceramics from her vibrant studio, welcoming people of all abilities to enjoy a creative, supportive and inspiring environment.
