Gallones Ice Cream

For hundreds of years, people from all over the world have settled in Northampton and brought with them aspects of their culture, especially food and drink. We don’t just enjoy our food and drink; we have a great history of making it too. For those with a sweet tooth, there are numerous flavours of ice cream available at Gallone’s.

Eduardo Gallone established Gallone’s Ice Cream in 1938. The business consisted of a factory in Trinity Avenue, Northampton and three ice cream vans. Originally from Italy, the Gallone family moved to Glasgow and then Northampton, bringing their homemade Italian ice cream recipe with them.

By 1949 the company had a fleet of over 50 vans and moved to a site at Welford Road, which still operates today. An ice cream parlour opened there in 2013 for customers to enjoy ice cream all year round.
The vintage vans still operate on the streets of Northampton and other parlours have opened in Weston Favell, Market Harborough, Leamington Spa, Bedford and Seaham.
