These pointe ballet shoes were made for ballet dancer and actress Moira Shearer. |
|
Made of red satin they were made by ballet shoe makers Freed of London for Shearer to wear in the film The Red Shoes, 1948. Twenty-five pairs were made to take her through all rehearsals and filming. This pair were prepared to be worn – the toes have been darned and the ribbons attached, but they were not ultimately worn. |
