This boot is an amazing survivor from World War One. |
This leather boot was found in Mametz Wood on the Somme battlefield site in 1986. It was made by Whybrows & Co, Australia. The maker’s name suggests a bespoke boot, which in turn suggests it may have belonged to an officer – possibly an Australian officer. |

This World War One boot is on display in the Functionality case in the shoe gallery. |
