John Clare died 160 years ago on 20 May 1864. We are marking this anniversary with a temporary exhibition in four Northamptonshire libraries, featuring some marvellous notebooks, works of art and individual poems from the library’s collection. Clare is best known for his poetry relating to the changes he saw in the rural environment during his lifetime and his almost scientific observation of nature. |
