Archaeology Documentation Volunteer
Main purpose of role:
To document archaeology that has moved to the Archaeological Resource Centre at the Chester House Estate and ensure information from the move is correctly stored and recorded on our digital system
To record remaining material at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery (some of which may move to the Archaeological Resource Centre in the future)
To research further material to decide whether it should move to the Archaeological Resource Centre at the Chester House Estate
Main duties:
Add object information recorded on spreadsheets, accession registers and record cards to Northampton Museum & Art Gallery catalogue system. This includes adding information from paper records to a computer system
Research archaeological objects in the collection
Rename photographs that are currently on the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery system
Review, list and pack photographs before they are moved to Archaeological Resource Centre

Approximate time commitment and duration:
Half to one day per week.
Useful skills required:
- Computer literate and confident with spreadsheets
- Confident using a camera
- Good attention to detail
- Good written and recording skills
Training provided:
All training will be provided. You will be required to attend an induction session.
Skills volunteers can devleop in the role:
- Skills and understanding of museum documentation and recording processes
