Materials:

Small amounts of red and black wool, any medium weight will work well, we used double knit.

5 mm crochet hook, or size appropriate for the weight of wool

Instructions:

Centre of poppy: using black yarn, create a magic loop.

Ch 3 (counts as first tr), 9 tr into loop. Sl-st into 3rd ch at start of round to join. [10 sts]

Petals Round 1: change now to red. Ch 1, 2 dc into each tr of previous round. Sl-st into ch 1 at start of round to join. [20 sts]

Petals Round 2: ch 1, 1 dc in first st, 2 tr in next st, 2 dtr in next 5 sts, 2 tr in next st, 1 dc in next st, 2 tr in next st, 2 dtr in next 8 sts, 2 tr in next st, sl-st into last st to join.

Break yarn and fasten off. Weave in all ends.
