Commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day, this talk will explore the role of the NorthamptonshireYeomanry as part of Operation Overlord. The 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry landed in Normandy over the 13 -14 June 1944 at Le-Hamel as part of the 33rd Armoured Brigade. The 2nd Northamptonshire Yeomanry the Reconnaissance Regiment of the 11th Armoured Division landed near Courseulles-Sur-Mer on the 18 June. The talk will feature individual stories researched especially for D-Day 80 and original artworks by Major D.G. Bevan sketched at the front.

Commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day this talk will tell the stories of people who took part in Operation Overlord. Northamptonshire men and women served in the navy, army and air-force and were also involved in special operations. We will also share activity on the home front including Salute the soldier fundraising in the villages, an Evils We Face exhibition in Northampton, the Land army and food production in rural Northamptonshire. The talk will feature individual stories researched especially for D-Day 80.
