Join renowned historian Mary Beard for an insightful exploration into the world of gladiatorial combat in ancient Rome.

This lecture will examine how Romans across the Empire viewed these brutal spectacles, while also delving into what gladiatorial combat was truly like in practice. Mary will reflect on the enduring fascination with gladiators in the modern world and why they continue to captivate our imaginations today.

Doors open at 6:30 pm with a welcome drink on arrival. The Gladiators of Britain exhibition will be open for viewing until 9:00 pm.
