The Selling Gallery is our dynamic space within the museum, dedicated to showcasing and selling the work of talented local artists, makers, and craftspeople.
Richard Horsman’s work is a celebration of vivid colour, structure, and transformation. Influenced by childhood memories of Lego bricks and the bold contrasts of 1980s video games, his art plays with perception, inviting viewers to explore shifting details from varying distances.
For over 20 years, Richard has crafted images that add complexity to simplicity—building structure from chaos and deconstructing the familiar. Featured in many international magazines and exhibited worldwide, his pieces often reveal hidden secrets, challenging the viewer’s perspective.
In an era where AI-generated images are becoming increasingly prevalent, the process of creating art has evolved—but not without its frustrations. Unlike instant, machine-generated visuals, there’s no artificial intelligence used in the creation of Richard's work. Instead it is the result of years of meticulous computer coding, layering, and refining, and remains a testament to human creativity, precision, and intention in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
