Museum history display

Image looks into a glass case containing a large painting in the centre with ceramic horse to the left, folssils in the centre and an animal stool.

This small dispay highlights the role of Northampton Museums and Art Gallery as a civic collection and public space for the people of Northampton and how this role has changed over time. Objects displayed include those collected when the museum was founded in the 1860s alongside those reflecting the contemporary museum.  Many objects were selected by the Museum's volunteers.

We conserved a fossil from our collection especially for this display.
