Join Us in Preserving History: Volunteer Opportunities at the Museum

Published: Tuesday, 20 August 2024

Two people in a store packing museum objects.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist in preparing our museum’s collection for an upcoming store move.

This is a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse range of objects, some dating as far back as 500 AD. The collection includes everything from shoes and costumes to various social history artifacts, all of which contribute to the rich narrative of Northampton and its surrounding areas.

As a volunteer, you will be involved in a variety of tasks, including documenting and updating records on the museum’s database, checking the condition of objects, labeling, and securely packing them for transport. No prior experience is necessary, as full training will be provided.

These volunteer roles are ideal for anyone interested in learning more about the inner workings of a museum, considering a career in the field, or looking for a meaningful project during retirement. Your contribution will help ensure that these valuable objects are preserved and ready for their next chapter.

If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you, we encourage you to review the available volunteer roles and apply. Join us in safeguarding the stories of our past for future generations.
