New art exhibition opening Saturday 14 September

Dissent: Art and Protest in Northamptonshire will mark 150 years since the Bradlaugh Riot took place on the Market Square.

Opening on Saturday 14 September this exhibition will highlight dissenters and protestors who have shaped Northamptonshire’s history and will share work by artists including Chris Fiddes, June Mendoza and John Collier, as well as Freee Art Collective and the Partisan Social Club.

On Saturday 14th September at 12pm, local artists explore ‘Art and Politics: Dissent, Protest, and Agency in Artistic Practice’. Looking at art as a critical tool for reflecting on society.

Secondly, join John Buckell on Saturday 21st September at 10.15am, as he presents a ‘Radical History of Northampton - an introductory talk’ 

The final talk to complement this exhibition is given by Chris Pounds of the Charles Bradlaugh Society in which he tells the story of the Bradlaugh Riot on its 150th anniversary on Sunday 6 October.
