Honouring Northamptonshire’s History – Blue Plaque Nominations Now Open

Northampton Museums & Art Gallery is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new Blue Plaque Scheme, celebrating the individuals and groups who have made a lasting impact.

This initiative, supported with public funding by Arts Council England, builds on the success of the 2019 Northampton Blue Plaque Scheme. Now, it expands across West Northamptonshire to honour even more local legends.

Nominate a Historical Figure

The Blue Plaque Scheme recognises individuals who have significantly contributed to the county’s history and culture. Members of the public are invited to submit nominations for those who deserve to be commemorated.
Nomination Criteria
To be eligible, nominees must meet the following criteria:
•    They must have been deceased for at least 20 years.
•    They must have a strong connection to a surviving location or building within the West Northamptonshire Council area.
•    Their contributions to local history and culture must be significant.
•    They must not already be honoured with a plaque, panel, or statue.
Key Dates
•    Nominations Open: February 2025
•    Deadline for Submissions: 30 April 2025
•    Final Selection and Announcement: May 2025
