The annual Art in the Park exhibition hosted at Abington Park Museum is set to return this year – and for the first time in its 60-year history it will be held online.

The exhibition, which started in 1961, is open to all artists across Northamptonshire and submissions are now being accepted. Previous exhibitions have included artwork across many mediums; including watercolours, oils, prints, pastels and photographs and a wide range of styles, from figurative to abstract.

A council spokesperson said: “Last year’s Art in the Park unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic so we are delighted to be able to bring it back for 2021 and host the exhibition virtually on the museum’s new website – in a completely Covid-safe way. Lockdown has seen so many people embracing their creativity and we are looking forward to receiving the submissions and unearthing some gems for the online exhibition.”

Virtual Art in the Park will run from Saturday 1 May until Monday 31 May on the museum’s new website

Artists can submit their work to the exhibition using an online form

The closing date for submissions is Saturday 24 April. Entrants will need to submit a high resolution photo of their work – photos under one megabyte will not be accepted.

Artworks will be available to buy.
