The annual Art in the Park exhibition, usually hosted at Northampton’s Abington Park Museum, has opened virtually this year on the Northampton Museums and Art Gallery’s new website.

The museum invited artists from across Northamptonshire to submit their work to the exhibition which is being held online for the first time in its 60-year history.

A total of 39 artworks will be displayed in the virtual exhibition across a range of mediums including watercolours, acrylics, oils, pen and ink, photographs, pastels, digital, print, pencil, mixed media and stoneware.

Subject matters on display include abstract works, portraits, animals, flowers, still life, landscapes including countryside, cityscapes, seaside vistas and local views of Abington.

Artworks are available to buy and range in price from £20 to £950.

A West Northamptonshire Council spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to bring back Art in the Park and host it virtually after last year’s exhibition was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“The exhibition showcases many different styles and it’s wonderful to see the creativity and talent of people across the county.”

Virtual Art in the Park will run until Monday 31 May on the museum’s new website.
