Northampton Museums & Art Gallery has an exciting opportunity to interview members of the public and transcribe and collect their stories for our upcoming punk exhibition.

As part of our Collections Development policy, it is our aim to record people’s memories of living, working, and community activities to accompany objects accessioned into the collection and for exhibiting within displays and digital content, for example on the Museum’s website or social media. Initially transcribers will work on our upcoming punk exhibition.

Volunteer duties

Listen to the pre-recorded interview and transcribe the interview as a summary document and full transcription.
Catalogue the interview using the Collections Management System Database- MODES Complete. Edit the interview using the sound-editing Audacity programme.

Approximate time commitment and duration

Transcribing and editing Tuesdays 1.30 - 4pm.
