Our brand new temporary exhibition opens this Saturday.

The Power of the Portrait looks at the relevance of portraiture in the age of the selfie and social media. Visitors can explore how they see themselves and how others see them. Using selected portraits from the museum collection and supported by works from the National Portrait Gallery, visitors are encouraged to contemplate their own sense of identity, self and place in the world.

The exhibition runs from Saturday 11 March to Sunday 4 June and is part of a project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Art Fund.
